According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), 964,000 veterans currently reside in the state of Texas. Of those veteran civilians, there are 929,000 employed, leaving an estimated 35,000 unemployed but eager and ready to contribute as a productive member of the workforce.

Last year alone, the Hiring Red, White & You! Annual Job Fair served as a platform for more than 170 employers and veterans service and training organizations to connect with eligible work-ready Texas veterans and their families.

November's Shining Star:
On the Job Training (OJT)

'

On the Job Training (OJT)

To date, our On the Job Training program has successfully placed 571 individuals in rewarding positions – providing these employees with valuable resources and the opportunity to excel in their current and future endeavors.

Can you guess which industry OJT placements have flourished in the most?

Construction

In 2017 alone, OJT has placed 184 trainees in the construction sector.

It's no surprise, employers in the construction industry have fully benefited from our On the Job Training program as skilled employees have been hard to come by in recent years. As projects mount because of recent natural disasters, the need for skilled workers will remain at an all-time high for employers in the construction sector – creating an abundance of opportunities for eligible OJT prospects in WorkInTexas.
