Oil & Gas Initiative: The Gulf Coast Oil & Gas Initiative is a program that matches employers with highly skilled individuals affected by the workforce reduction efforts in the oil and gas industry. Working with a job candidate who has been displaced from the Oil & Gas Industry? Oil & Gas Initiative recruiters can work your job candidate to get them eligible for training and certifications, as well as, on-the-job training opportunities specifically designated for displaced Oil & Gas workers.  OGI recruiters can also help with career coaching and resume critiques as requested by customers.  To refer your job candidate to the program, contact the Oil & Gas Initiative by phone or email.

Summer Earn & LEARN
'
The Summer Earn and Learn Program is an opportunity for young adults with disabilities to secure jobs with local businesses for summer employment. The program places individuals with participating companies and Workforce Solutions pays their salary up to 10 weeks at 20 hours a week. 

Employers receive ready-to-train summer interns to help out with day to day operations. There is no obligation to hire the candidate during or after the duration of the program, but employers are responsible for training, supervising and providing weekly timesheet submittals to Workforce Solutions.

On-The-Job Training

On-the-Job Training (OJT) helps individuals transition into new jobs in new industries when jobs in their industry are few or no longer available.  We reimburse the employer for training expenses incurred when hiring an individual who needs additional training and skills to adequately perform the job. 

OJT is also a great resource to offer employers that are willing to hire job candidates participating in Work Based Learning. Are you currently working with a job candidate or employer participating in Work Based Learning? Contact OJT before the Work Based Learning period ends to find out how these two services can work together.

If you would like know more about OJT and how it works, OJT staff is more than happy to visit your office and attend your staff meetings or huddles.

Miguel S
Miguel graduated from high school two years ago and had been working for staff agencies in temporary assignments earning $9.00 an hour. With limited experience, he struggled to obtain meaningful employment. On June 6, 2017, Miguel began a new job with TRIO Electric Inc., as an Apprentice Electrician as part of their Registered Apprenticeship Program earning $13.00 an hour.  He is enjoying his new job and is excited about his new career.
