INTRODUCTION TO OSHA:
Are you in compliance?

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration plays a vital part in operating a business. The United States Department of Labor is focused on providing resources to employees and employers that help prevent injuries and illnesses. Complying with OSHA is important to ensure safety in the workplace. It is increasingly important to keep the number of fatalities, injuries, and illnesses down in the workplace. A company must take adequate steps to protect their employees. Exactly how do you comply with OSHA standards?
While no one can totally prevent an injury from occurring, there are basic safety procedures a company can take to minimize the risk factors for employees and the employer. Understanding the expectations of a safety inspection and how to keep company records for OSHA is the beginning of successfully providing a safe work environment.
The Department of Labor currently provides a wealth of resources to the public for OSHA compliance. The Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970 is the legislation aimed to reduce safety hazards by encouraging employers and their employees in their efforts of safety precautions. The goal is to provide safe and healthy working conditions that prevent an employee from suffering or diminishing life expectancy due to their work experience. Providing appropriate reporting procedures will achieve the objective of this Act and accurately describe the nature of the occupational safety and health problem.
