Texas Rising Star
Texas Rising Star is the quality rating and improvement system for Texas early childhood programs. All providers receiving child care payments from Workforce Solutions – Gulf Coast are required to meet minimum state standards, have achieved entry level designation, and be in the process of becoming Texas Rising Star certified.
Becoming a Texas Rising Star Provider
If you are interested in becoming a Child Care Services (CCS) Early Learning Provider with Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast, you must participate in the Texas Workforce Commission’s quality rating and improvement system, Texas Rising Star. To get started, please complete the Texas Rising Star interest form. A Workforce Solutions team member will contact you to assist with the next steps.
Entry Level Designation
After submitting the Texas Rising Star interest form, eligible child care providers that meet minimum state Child Care Regulations (CCR) requirements will be designated as Entry Level. Child care providers must agree to work with a mentor toward full Texas Rising Star certification, which can take up to 24 months to complete.
Mentoring and Professional Development
Workforce Solutions Gulf Coast offers mentoring and technical assistance to child care directors and teachers to support the implementation of quality improvement strategies and help programs obtain, maintain, or advance their Texas Rising Star certification.
Child care providers participating in Child Care Services (CCS) and Texas Rising Star are also eligible for free or low-cost professional development opportunities to strengthen their skills and enhance early learning practices.
