We hosted the first series of working groups on March 24th, 2025, to learn more about successes and challenges that current apprenticeships have experienced. We had over thirty leaders from around the Gulf Coast Region to participate in this endeavor.
The leaders focused on three major topics
- a) creating a comprehensive cost analysis of completing a teacher apprenticeship in Houston,
- b) compiling a list of funding streams from a variety of sources and categorize them by where they belong in the apprentice journey, and
- c) generating ideas to minimize the financial barriers to teacher apprenticeship.
We look forward to collaborating with stakeholders in the future about how to increase access to teacher apprenticeships while also increasing the number of high-quality teachers in the Gulf Coast region.
