Meet Melissa Gonzalez: Expanding Opportunities Through Education

Melissa Gonzalez is dedicated to creating opportunities that help students and communities thrive. As president of Lone Star College–Kingwood, she works to expand access to education and workforce training, helping prepare students for successful careers across a wide range of industries.

Her passion for workforce development is what led her to join the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. With more than 200 academic and workforce programs at Lone Star College, Gonzalez understands the important role education plays in connecting people with meaningful careers.

“I really advocate for workforce programs… We have over 200 programs at LSC College… for opportunities that we provide the community and our students.”

Looking ahead, Gonzalez sees tremendous potential for the region’s workforce. From healthcare and construction to energy and education, she believes Houston offers countless pathways for individuals to build rewarding careers and strengthen the local economy.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Gonzalez enjoys staying active by running and exercising, reading, and spending quality time with her family.
