Meet Sara Montelongo-Oyervidez: Championing Education and Industry
June 30, 2026
Sara Montelongo-Oyervidez brings a passion for education and community engagement to the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. In her role with Valero Energy, she leads public relations efforts for the company’s Houston and Texas City refineries, supporting initiatives that range from government relations and community investment to workforce development and emergency communications.
Her commitment to workforce development extends beyond her professional responsibilities. Motivated by a belief in the power of education, Montelongo-Oyervidez joined the board to help strengthen the pipeline between students, skilled workers, and industry.
“Education is extremely important to me… we need many more skilled workers and I think we undervalue the value that they bring to our industry.”
Outside of work, her favorite role is being a mom. Much of her free time is spent with her 17-month-old daughter, whether they’re exploring local parks, taking walks, or turning a simple grocery trip into an adventure.
Through her leadership and dedication to workforce initiatives, Sara Montelongo-Oyervidez is helping strengthen connections between education, industry, and the next generation of skilled professionals.
