Meet Sineria Ordonez: Turning Knowledge Into Opportunity
September 15, 2026
For Sineria Ordonez, giving back starts with sharing knowledge. Her career has taken her from education nonprofits to the financial industry, but her focus on helping families and communities move forward has remained constant.
Ordonez is a senior manager within the diverse markets at Charles Swamp Bank. She has spent the past five years in the financial industry, following nine years working in the education nonprofit space.
That earlier experience shaped how she views community service and the role knowledge can play in a family’s future. For Ordonez, education is not simply about learning. It can help families change the direction of their lives.
“For me, it was really important that the way that we give back and the way that we empower our community through educational and sharing knowledge is the most important way to really change the trajectory of a family’s life.”
That perspective is also what brought Ordonez to the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. She is drawn to the Board’s focus on economic and upward mobility and its work to help people gain the skills and knowledge they need to move forward.
Her experience in both education and financial services gives her a perspective that connects learning with economic opportunity. She sees the work of the Board as an opportunity to help enrich communities and give families access to knowledge that can support their goals.
For Ordonez, serving on the Board is ultimately connected to the kind of work she finds meaningful.
“When you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. So I don’t work, I serve.”
Outside of her professional and Board responsibilities, Ordonez enjoys spending time with her family, being in nature and learning more about the cultural diversity that makes Houston such a varied community. Those interests reflect the same curiosity and appreciation for community that she brings to her work.
With a background rooted in education and a current role in financial services, Ordonez brings both experiences to her service on the Board. Her focus remains on something that has been important throughout her career: helping people access the knowledge they need to see new possibilities for themselves and their families.
